After a fast paced and wonderful week in Bellingham, I am home for the weekend. My family pupper, Bella the beagle, has been living in Bellingham with me as an emotional support animal. Let’s just say that she is quite pleased to be home, apartment living isn’t her thing. So this weekend we are going to enjoy our big yard, comfy couches, and endless amounts of food. In between all that we might check out a trail nearby and hit up the local farmers market. What are you up to this weekend? Let me know! Here are a few links from around the interwebs for your weekend…

It is finally June! I can’t believe summer is just around the corner, I just have to make it through my first finals week at Western. This weekend I am hoping the weather clears up a bit so I can go paddle boarding on Lake Whatcom, but if it doesn’t I’ll probably end up at a coffee shop drinking tea and hitting the books.

This week felt like it would never end or get better. Each day I woke up exhausted and unmotivated and today was just the icing on the cake. I was almost late to class, forgot close-toed shoes for lab, and forgot to eat breakfast and lunch. I felt like a complete mess, but I prevailed. I got up, I showed up, and I survived. And despite the terrible start to my day I decided to make the most of what was left. I went thrifting, ate dinner with friends, and cuddled a pupper. And thanks to those simple little actions I ended a rough week on a happy note.

How this week felt…

Incase you missed last weekends chance to march for change.

So this weekend, despite the impending doom of midterms, looks like it is going to be a good one. Saturday is Earth day, and here in Bellingham that means that there will be a myriad of events to attend. So many events to choose from, yet I can only be at one place at a time, bummer! After surveying my options I opted to March for Science instead of sitting inside listening to talks. When in doubt opt for action. Climate change is real my friends and I encourage you to get out there and March for Science this weekend! What are you doing to celebrate Earth day this weekend?

Find your nearest March for Science

A pretty dress to make for summer

Obligatory post transfer orientation vegan donut run.

This long weekend started out with a dose of sleep deprivation and a day full of new things in Bellingham. After a long drive home after night lab I caught a few hours of sleep before getting up early to head to Bellingham for my new student transfer orientation. But of course when in Bellingham, you must do fun things and eat good food. So we ate at Soy House again, because that place is amazing, and also picked up some vegans donuts. After all that fun I was pretty exhausted, so the rest of the weekend will probably be fairly relaxed. I think working on projects, snuggling my pup, shopping at my favorite health food store, and eating lots of good food is what’s on the agenda. Here are a few links from around the internet for you weekend…

A beautiful little camper.

Driving over Snoqualmie  pass last weekend.

This week has been a busy one for me and when I was finally done today, I didn’t know what to do with myself! I had nowhere I had to be, nowhere I had to drive to, just me and a whole lot of time. I started out this lovely weekend with lunch with a good friend, then proceeded to finish a knitting project.  I am hoping to take some time for me tomorrow and so far that looks like going to yoga and maybe a hike. Anyway, I hope you all had a good week and don’t forget that despite the mess you can find yourself in some weeks, to remember that it will all be okay in the end. Here are a few links from around the internet for your weekend…

How to Recover From a Tough Week (Weekend Links 1/20/17)

tumblr_nimc8qklss1qb01ndo1_1280

Some weeks are really hard and you just have to accept that. I’ve had a rough week and it just seems like the bad stuff never ends. But knowing that I needed to escape I planned a weekend trip away to visit my cousin. It will be nice to get away for the weekend and spend some time with family. I hope you are having a relatively okay week and if you aren’t, don’t forget to take care of yourself! This weekend links post is going to be a list of things to do for yourself when you feel sad…

Allow yourself to cry and be sad, then pick yourself up and start to move on.

Drink something warm and comforting.

Do yoga and enjoy shavasana a little bit more than usual.

Take a long hot shower. Wash the pain down the drain.

Keep busy, start a few projects. Make something that will bring you joy.

Surround yourself with kind people, people who love and care about you.

Detox from your phone, social media, netflix. Take time to just be present.

Get outside, go for a hike, watch the sunset, just go out and get some fresh air.

Speak kind words, rise above the negativity.

Eat delicious nourishing foods, I promise it will make you feel better.

Curl up with a good book and let yourself get lost.

Go away for the weekend and take the time to recharge.

Clean out and pair down your life. Consider minimalism or a form of it.

Journal how you feel everyday. Let the words go as you write them down.

I woke up this morning to discover that it was -11ºF outside, I had to blow dry my hair for the first time in months for the fear that my hair would freeze off. It feels like winter here will never end, but at least I have a warm bed to curl up in when I don’t have class. It is too cold to go outside this weekend, but I am not really sure what I am going to be up to. I definitely need to knit a hat, otherwise I think my ears might freeze off! I hope you had a good week and your winter is much milder than mine. Here are a few links from around the internet for your weekend…
